May 15, 2016. What does Pentecost mean? On the first Pentecost, the followers of Jesus asked Peter, who expanded on the words of the prophet Joel, and told them that they would be prophets themselves. We are modern day prophets. Emboldened, inspired, and ignited by the Holy Spirit, we too can share the importance of our faith.
