Men’s Group

“Train a child in the way he should go, so when he is old he will not turn from it.”  — Proverbs 22:6

Our congregation has an active, engaging Dads’ Group made of a number of men who want to simply be better fathers, husbands, and friends.  We meet periodically and use books to guide our conversations, and we learn from each other different ways to help, love, and even challenge our children. Think about it: many of us have literally spent decades in school and on the job learning our professions.  But aside from the fathers we personally have had, we’ve not had much experience learning the far more important role of trying to be great father. The Dads’ Group  gives us an opportunity to learn, talk, and even debate… all with the focus on being better dads.

While our initial focus was on fathering, we have also found we have become close friends, and our families and children have done the same.  They say it takes a village to raise a child, and our group is a bit like a small village where we feel each would look out for the others and hopefully collectively be good role models for our children.  We watch over each other’s kids, have social events, and have seen relationships deepen.

(And, being men, we have found some time beyond the great conversations to enjoy some fellowship-type time!)
