Creation Care at Christ

“The Earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
At Christ Lutheran we strive to improve our stewardship of God’s creation. We believe in a Creator God, who has bestowed us with a beautiful Earth. In taking care of our earth, we show respect to God. Our Creation Care Team is actively involved in the congregation in areas of Building and Grounds, Education and Discipleship.
Buildings and Grounds
Our light bulbs are being replaced by LED lights, and we have the future goal of replacing fixtures with those that use LED lights. We plan to increase the number of motion sensitive light switches as part of the renovation.
We have started to introduce native and pollinator-friendly plants recommended by the Audubon Society to our church grounds. To promote soil health, fall leaves have often been shredded and reused as mulch around trees.
Two Sunday Morning Forums and several Sunday School events each year are dedicated to care of the earth
Following the lead of Webster Presbyterian, we are now collecting the following items in the Fellowship Hall for disposal:
  • markers/highlighters
  • batteries (rechargeable, hearing aid)
  • cell phones/chargers
  • corks
  • eyeglasses
  • hearing aids
  • printer cartridges
  • electric cords
