Dr. Mark Ruff on the Church in the U.S. and Germany
During the first three Sundays in April, Dr. Mark Ruff, Associate Professor of History at St. Louis University will share from his wealth of information after studying under scholarship in Germany for more than a year in 2006 and 2007. Dr. Ruff will draw from his research to address these topics:
April 6- “The Battle for the Catholic Past in Germany, 1945-1975” Dr. Ruff will discuss how battles between historians have been used to wage larger conflicts over church-state relations in Germany.
April 13 - “Changes in American Religion Since 1945, part 1” Dr. Ruff will discuss transformations in the American landscape, both Protestant and Catholic.
April 20– “Changes in American Religion Since 1945, part 2” Dr. Ruff will continue the above discussion as well as discuss questions of church-state relations in the U.S. particularly in light of the current Presidential campaign.
